Graphic Design

This page is dedicated to my graphic design work. Some of this work was done for classes, some was done for my sorority. While some of the pieces on this page are not perfect, they are pieces that I am proud of creating and pieces that have a story behind them.

Some of the work that I've done for metalsmithing relates directly or indirectly to my graphic design work. Metalsmithing has allowed me to have a greater attention to detail when it comes to design and big picture 3D designs. I have chosen to display these pieces that I have created because I feel they supplement my 2D design work.

My Logo

While developing this logo, I went through a few different styles, but ultimately settled on that one. It features my signature because I wanted to add a personal touch to it. I feel that it portrays a sense of calm creativity.

Brahms' Requiem

A set of posters designed for a fictional concert series. I enjoyed creating these because I was able to incorporate my musicality into the work. Having been a musician for the past ten years, I felt that it was important to the design to stay true to the feelings of the works that would be played at the concerts.

Donor Card

The Donor Card design is a card that would be kept in a person's wallet and it says that this person wants to donate only specific organs or doesn't want to donate. For that project we were to create a logo for the company as well as a the card itself.

MCA Large Poster

The Midwest Center for the Arts poster was meant to be a large poster that advertised and informed viewers about the different programs that the school has to offer as well as some of it's history. The design was a challenge because I chose to divide the page into quarters diagonally.

What a Time Tea Front

For tea packaging, we were to create a tea brand and packaging for a new line of teas. There were to be three types of teas for different times of day. I chose the name "What a Time Tea" as kind of a play on the phrase "what a time to be alive" so the mid-day tea has the name "What a Time Tea Be Alive." The closure of the packaging is a clock that is the recommended time to drink that tea.

What a Time Tea Back

Not only did we design the brand, we were to also create the packaging or use existing packaging. I chose to prototype the packaging myself and created the shape of the packaging from scratch.

Plans Book Cover

The next few images are from a plans book for my Creative Advertising class. It was a group project in which we were to create a plans book for the fictional re-launch of Brut shower gel in America. Shown here is the cover of the plans book and the three full page print advertisements. My role in the group was to create the visual ads as well as the compilation of the final product into an aesthetically consistent plans book.

TBS shirt design

This is a shirt design that is based on a lyric from one of our national songs. "I'll trust my heart and find the light" is a line that spoke to me and so I made it into a shirt. This design has been sold at district conventions for the past two years and is worn by many people from my chapter.

AMPLIFY Banner

The AMPLIFY banner was used as a tool to help the members of our sorority remember the words used in the acronym AMPLIFY. This was our chapter's take on the Tau Beta Sigma North Central District's theme of the year, Amplify.

Fall 2017 Recruitment Flyer

The front and back of the first flyer shown was for Fall 2017. This was designed to be a quarter page flyer.

The Spring 2018 recruitment flyer was a full page flyer.

Mermaid Cuff Etch Design

The mermaid cuff directly relates to design. I drew and designed the pattern to be etched into the metal in Adobe Illustrator. The design was then printed and transferred onto the cuff using an acid etching technique.

Stacked

The teapot and cream and sugar set indirectly relate to graphic design because they show my ability to work in 3D. For these pieces, I had to go through a process in which I sketched, modeled, and then executed my designs. Metal used in this starts of as a flat sheet that has to then be transformed into a finished product.
